Apparently, daddy is no comfort at all after the scary thunder wakes you up. Only mommy can help with that (and she'd better not try handing you off to daddy after that initial cuddle).

I'm not taking it too hard.

Yeah, some of that early Mommy-is-best can be hard to take. I'm told that it eventually ends, but I haven't seen that yet.

Let me put it this way, I figure I am doing a good job as a father if - for each child - once - in the first year - the child is being held by mommy and reaches for me.

I am barely acceptable for the 9 year old or 7 year old if either is injured. Not acceptable for the 4 or 2 year old.
