Ah, what a nice day to eat lunch in the courtyard behind my office!

Or maybe not.

I also posted this picture on Facebook, and I've got to share one of the comments. After a couple of people said things about how the gator and tortoise might interact, I noted that:
"Yeah, when I took this photo, it kinda looked like the tortoise kept trying to mount the gator. I assume they have some sort of uneasy truce."
That was soon followed by my friend Mike responding,
"The tortoise must have heard that the alligator was 'loose'."
Mike wins all the things. :)

LOLOL!

I have to ask though... is this real? Knowing you one can never be sure, either way really.

Yes, it's real. It's an enclosed courtyard in the center of the science building that they let the tortoise and/or alligator roam freely in during nice weather. What you can't see in the photo is the cable bike lock keeping the doors secure so people don't accidentally enter the courtyard when the animals are there.

Usually, the courtyard only has the tortoise in it, so the sign is a good warning for those not knowing that the gator is there, too. You wouldn't want to go in to feed the tortoise or something and get surprised by a gator hiding in the bushes.

That picture is so funny. Also, I only realized there was a tortoise there after I read the comments.
