Well, we seem to have done it:

Kim and I went over to make a decision on buying cats from our local cat rescue folks earlier this evening. Our original plan was to wait to bring them home until Kim got back from DragonCon next week, but we seem to have changed our minds. Happily, it looks like the kittens are enjoying their new home:

We figure we'll give them a day or two to get used to the basement (where their food and litter boxes will live) before opening up the rest of the house.
I'm liking this. :)

(Coldtortuga's comment brings a less happy thought to mind though - was the bat issue resolved satisfactorily? You really, really don't want even the *possibility* of kittens and bats having come into contact. The potentially resulting quarantines would be no fun at all for anyone.)

Nevertheless, we're thinking that getting a rabies vaccine for the kittens on the sooner end might be a good idea. We'll see what the vet has to say once we take them in for their next round of shots.

And yeah, I think there's an age restriction on the rabies vaccine, but I dunno what it is off the top of my head.

Hey, wait, you're not going to be at DragonCon? :(

Alas, no. I figure with this being my first year teaching here, I want to be especially sure that I'm ready for my first day. We figured it was safe for Kim to go, since she was only teaching one class (and it was similar to one she'd taught before). As it turns out, the day after she booked her ticket she ended up getting two additional classes, but hey. (She's taught things like them before, too.)

Nope, I'm ditching him for the weekend. Mwahahahah!
